Hi! My name is Marialuisa Aliotta. I am a Reader at the University of Edinburgh and a passionate mentor to post-graduate students and early career researchers. I have a ten-year experience in university education both at undergraduate and post-graduate level.
My research interests are in experimental nuclear astrophysics, and I study the nuclear reactions that take place in stars and contribute to the synthesis of the chemical elements in the Universe (you can find out more about it at my professional page).
“Academic Life” is where I share my thoughts, strategies and resources about what it means to be an academic. Having lived abroad for more than a decade, I have a direct personal experience of what it takes to embrace challenge and overcome obstacles. Whether you are a PhD student, a post-doctoral researcher or an early career academic, I’ll be happy to provide tools and tips to help you promote your professional development. Just subscribe to this blog to make sure you do not miss a post!
